Job Description

We're on the lookout for a DevSecOps Engineer to join our Service Infrastructure crew in Solihull (West Midlands).

Our gig includes Remote Work and Occasional Visits Twice a Month to Client place when Needed.

What you'll be up to

Under the guidance of the CISO, you'll dive into:

  • Collaborating with DevOps squads to plan and set up rock-solid AWS infrastructure, services, and apps.
  • Conducting routine security assessments and audits of AWS environments to spot and tackle potential vulnerabilities and risks.
  • Setting up and upkeeping security controls and compliance actions in line with industry norms and regulatory needs.
  • Playing a crucial role in incident response efforts, carrying out root cause analysis, and suggesting steps to prevent future mishaps.
  • Keeping an eye on AWS security alerts, events, and incidents, and reacting swiftly to combat security threats.
  • Developing and rolling out security automation scripts and tools to simplify security chores in the DevOps process.
  • Taking part in threat modeling sessions and risk evaluations to proactively pinpoint security weaknesses and prioritize fixing tasks.
  • Staying in the loop with the latest security trends, tools, and technologies in the AWS universe, and suggesting their adoption when fitting.
  • Offering security advice and coaching to development and operations squads to nurture a security-aware environment.
  • Being involved in projects to ensure security is factored in.

Who we're seeking

We're particularly keen on hiring team members who mirror our core principles and possess the right mindset and behaviors for success. While some of the specified criteria might be crucial, don't stress if you don't tick all the boxes, we're still interested in hearing from you.

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on exposure as a Security Engineer or similar position in an AWS DevOps environment.
  • Proficiency in AWS offerings and functionalities, including IAM, VPC, EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and CloudFormation.
  • Firm grasp of security best practices, principles, and frameworks, like ISO 27001 controls and NIST Guidelines.
  • Experience in setting up security automation using scripting languages eg. Python and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools.
  • Aptitude for carrying out security threat modeling and risk assessments to pinpoint and prioritize security risks.
  • Experience with security incident response and handling, encompassing log analysis and forensics.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate efficiently with cross-functional teams.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of AWS Security Products and logging tools such as SecurityHub, Inspector, Detective, CloudTrail, GuardDuty, and CloudWatch.
  • Extra points for certifications such as AWS Certified Security Specialty.
  • Proficient in the latest cyber trends.
  • Solid understanding of open-source Pen test tools like Burpsuite, ZAP, Nikito, Metasploit, SQLmap.

    • Integrating into DevOps Workflow
  • Within 3 months:
    • Handling Security Incidents and Remediation
    • Automating Security and Tooling
    • Conducting Security Compliance and Audits
    • Collaborating with Development Teams
  • Within 6 months:
    • Undertaking Threat Modeling and Risk Assessment
    • Leading Continuous Improvement Initiatives
    • Managing Security Incidents
