NatCen's Crime, Justice & Security team is recruiting a Senior Researcher to join a highly expert, ambitious, team.

This role will suit candidates with an interest and experience in our crime and justice priority areas; youth violence and criminal exploitation (CCE), violence against women and girls (VAWG), counter-extremism and drug policy.

You will contribute towards the design and delivery of high-quality research and evaluation projects, using a range of qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods approaches, ensuring these are conducted to high quality standards, on time and within budget, and meet or exceed customers' needs. This will include working closely on joint projects with other teams in NatCen's Public Policy and Global division.

This role requires you to support the leadership of the team, line managing more junior members of staff, supporting researchers at all levels to develop their skills and experience, and building a culture of creativity, learning and innovation.

You must be passionate about delivering insights that have real world impact and committed to working with customers and partners to achieve that goal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be the main day to day contact for projects and liaise effectively and professionally with NatCen staff, as well as external clients and collaborators.
  • Project manage up to three projects at any one time.
  • Contribute to the overall design and implementation of research projects.
  • Carry out qualitative and quantitative data analysis to a high standard.
  • Contribute to writing proposals, presentations and reports to a standard appropriate for external audiences.
  • Develop a good knowledge of crime and justice policy.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Undergraduate degree.
  • Good understanding of qualitative research methods.
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering high-quality research studies, helping to ensure their delivery to time and budget.
  • Strong social research skills and experience of conducting research using qualitative and quantitative methods and analysing the resulting data.
  • Excellent communications skills (written and oral) and the ability to communicate clearly, in different styles and for different audiences.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage deadlines effectively.
