Purchase Ledger Clerk

Reed Accountancy is on the lookout for a seasoned Purchase Ledger Clerk to become part of a prestigious client who is a leader in their respective industry. In the capacity of the Purchase Ledger Clerk, your role will be crucial in keeping precise financial records, handling supplier invoices and payments, and assisting the finance team in preserving the financial soundness of the company.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Keep accurate records of purchase ledger using both accounting software and spreadsheets.
  • Handle supplier invoices, credit notes, and payment transactions, ensuring they align with UK accounting standards.
  • Manage supplier documentation for audit purposes, ensuring accuracy and efficient workflow of purchase ledger support.
  • Process supplier payments using various methods such as BACS and CHAPS.
  • Perform reconciliation of supplier statements, manage discrepancies, and oversee aged creditor balances.
  • Update supplier records, respond to queries, and maintain effective communication with suppliers.
  • Match ledger transactions with bank statements and help in monitoring cash flow.
  • Aid in internal and external audits by preparing necessary schedules and documents.
  • Enhance financial systems, processes, and controls.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Possessing an AAT qualification (minimum level 3) or equivalent experience (QBE) is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in the field of accounting and finance is required.
  • In-depth understanding of UK accounting standards and principles of taxation is essential.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software such as Xero, Sage, and Microsoft Excel are necessary.
  • Outstanding analytical abilities with a meticulous attention to detail are expected.
  • Strong skills in communication and teamwork are crucial.
