As Contract Engineer/Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the lifecycle of projects by meticulously handling various company contracts. You'll prepare, review, comment, and negotiate contracts related to purchases, sales, bespoke agreements, and variations. Your strong analytical skills will enable you to fully comprehend the commercial implications and potential impact on the organisation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the preparation of bid documentation, for example datasheets and reports when required.
  • Proactively supporting proposals team in the analysis and production of the commercial proposals.
  • Supporting proposals process in liaising with other organisational departments to ensure accurate cost and resource calculations are included in submissions.
  • Proactively assisting in building accurate commercial models to support the proposal production process.
  • Contributing to critical analysis of review process for proposals to ensure high quality of technical and commercial submissions.
  • Ensuring that all the terms and conditions proposed by clients are reviewed, and terms negotiated, if necessary, to ensure compliance with Ashtead Groups contracting principles.
  • Participating in contract reviews and ensure that specific commercial issues, risks, and opportunities requiring management are understood and communicated.
  • Wherever possible, have Frame Agreements negotiated and put in place with key clients, with mutually agreed terms and conditions.
  • Initiating contacts where required to resolve and discuss mutual problems or collaboration on procedures or transactions.
  • Providing advice to other departments on complex contract matters and provide training as required.
  • Generally, working within established guidelines, processes, and procedures. Should demonstrate ability to recommend/ implement improvements to achieve team goals.
  • Liaising with external and internal stakeholders including insurance brokers, group commercial team in mitigating the Company's risks and liabilities.
  • Ensuring that all proposals issued by the Company adhere to Ashtead's commercial principles, with emphasis on delivery terms, payment terms, cancellation terms and overseas tax issues.

Our client is seeking a candidate with the following qualifications, skills and personal qualities:

  • Degree or relevant training in Commercial or Contract law.
  • Proven work experience as a Contract Engineer or in another relevant role.
  • Driven with thorough attention to detail.
  • Ability to build relationships across the business.
  • Ensure and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Confident in persuading and influencing internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently if required in meeting tight deadlines.
  • Well-organised and decisive.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
