Category Controller - 1 year FTC hybrid role based in Staines


About The Role

The Category Controller leads the category management team across Sausage & Plant Based categories, overseeing a team of three. This role fosters a culture that is opportunity-focused, aligning the team with priority opportunities and equipping them with the necessary tools and support to succeed. The Category Controller embodies our values and culture, modeling these behaviors within the team (including Category Managers and the Category Executive) and encouraging others to do the same.

The role involves developing compelling visions for category growth that challenge current thinking and offer a forward-looking perspective. The Category Controller embeds our vision within the category team, the broader business, and with customers. This position strengthens relationships with customers, particularly Buying Managers and Senior Buyers, and enhances connections in non-buying functions such as space and merchandising, insights, and category planning.

As the voice of the shopper and consumer within our business, the Category Controller influences our strategies to ensure we are consumer-centric and aligned with our customers' plans.

This is a hybrid, full-time role: 3 days in Staines, 2 from home

What You Will Be Doing

  • Builds and levels up collaborative and independent relationships with key customer stakeholders (buyers, merchandisers) to become a trusted partner.
  • Analyse and interpret multiple customer and shopper data sources to generate actionable insights on category risks and opportunities.
  • Deliver Category range review recommendations which focus on the optimal assortment and merchandising supported by clear insight and rationale.
  • Deliver key category and customer reporting.
  • Achieve delivery of key metrics in line with budgeted goals - Distribution Points - Listings (Innovation) - Share of Space - Space Quality
