  • Children and families in Warwickshire benefit from a clearly defined and accessible Early Help offer, ensuring that they receive support services when needed.
  • Children and Families have access to a wide range of helpful services at an early stage, which make a real difference to their lives.

About the Role

The role as described by a Senior Family Support Worker:
"As a Senior Family Support Worker in Early Help, you get the opportunity to be on the frontline supporting children and families, delivering interventions across the spectrum of support in family homes, face to face in the community and via our family support helpline whilst also providing supervision to a team of family support workers and support to the Early Help network of professionals. Support and guidance is provided by the Early Help Team Leader, Senior Family Support Worker peer group and the Early Help Social Work Team. It can feel like you get the best of both worlds by having the privilege of working directly with families alongside the leadership and management part of the role which enhances your own learning and development. It is busy and varied and no day is the same."

Essential experience to be successful in the role includes:

  • A minimum of NVQ Level Four or equivalent children and family's qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience of demonstrably effective continuous Family Support Work coupled with delivery of specialist interventions, partnership work and supervisory duties.
  • To maintain an uptodate knowledge within their areas of specialism, including relevant policies and legislation and ensure that it is shared and promoted appropriately.
  • To deputise for the Team Leader.
  • To build working relationships with other professionals and agencies, supporting an effective multiagency liaison and work effectively as part of a multiagency team.
  • To take a lead role in promoting a continuous professional development to Family Support Workers, cascading relevant training and knowledge, sharing best practice, and offering specialist advice and support.
  • Contributing to the learning of others through a robust delivery of guidance, support, and training, including in specific specialist areas, e.g., mental health, domestic abuse, to Family Support Workers and other colleagues, as required.
  • Developing and maintaining strong partnerships with other services and agencies to deliver a holistic service to families with complex needs.
  • Delivery of specialist interventions and programmes.
  • Supervise a small number of family support workers and contribute to smooth management of the team and service. This might include responsibility for rota's, coordinating services and acting as the senior worker to lead and support others in difficult situations.
  • Meet the needs of families, children, and young people, using a restorative approach, developing strong relationships to support families to help themselves, empowering them to make their own decisions and actively engage in their plan of support or intervention.
  • Delivery of direct work with parents and children through their plans of support.
