Hull City Council's Housing Access Service is a multi disciplinary service which provides a comprehensive housing advice and options designed to prevent homelessness and rough sleeping, help customers find realistic and sustainable housing solutions which meet their needs and allocate available council homes.

We are looking for a team leader in our Homelessness Prevention and Options Team who will lead and develop a team of experienced Housing Sustainment Officers, whose main focus is to prevent homelessness.

The team provides in depth support and advice to customers who are approaching the council due to being threatened with homelessness.

They negotiate with landlords and liaise with other professionals, utilising a wide range of practical and financial measures which will secure a customer's tenancy and ensure it is sustainable going forward.

This is a new post, which has been created in order to provide more direct leadership to the Housing Sustainment function due to the increasing demand for homelessness assistance in the city.

Leading by example, instilling a culture in tune with the council's values and behaviours and the Chartered Institute of Housing's professional standards, you will lead, support, and motivate the team to ensure the best possible outcomes for customers; ensuring high quality, responsive and empathetic services are provided and that statutory duties are met.

You will direct the day to day operations of the team, manage performance and develop your team.

You will be required to improve processes and practice in order to ensure the team is in the best possible position to achieve positive outcomes for customers.

This will include closely working with colleagues in the service to look at the information available to customers, how incoming workloads can be more effectively managed and when partner organisations need to be involved.

You will be flexible in your approach to work, working as part of the wider Housing Access leadership team to provide responsive services to our customers.

You will deputise for the Homelessness Prevention & Options Manager as required.

This is a hugely challenging but rewarding role, providing homelessness assistance to people at a time when affordable housing options are severely limited, demand far exceeds supply and as a result customer expectations often cannot be met.

If you have the relevant knowledge, skills and experience and want to further your housing career in a senior role, please apply.
