We are looking for an enthusiastic Sonographer to join our proactive and forward-thinking Ultrasound department.

You will be a highly motivated professional with excellent communication skills, initiative and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.


As a skilled Sonographer you will deliver your care with a compassionate and empathetic approach, in keeping with the expected standards maintained by all members of our high-quality imaging team.

You must be able to work independently but also as a part of a wider team, fitting in with our collaborative culture.


Contracted hours of work to be agreed between 8.00am to 8.00pm, 7 days a week - full time and part time hours will be considered.


The post holder must have either The Diploma in Medical Ultrasound (DMU) or equivalent CASE accredited PgC/PgD, registered with The Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and/or other professional body and be willing to partake in Continual Professional Development (CPD).


The responsibilities of this post will include being involved and assisting in the day-to-day organisation of the clinical workload within the ultrasound service across all sites and to partake in a continual review of services provided to ensure that it is as efficient as possible.

They must be aware of the overall operational functioning of the department


The post holder must have good communication skills and clinical knowledge and be able to interact well with both other members of staff & patients at all levels.

Main

Responsibilities:


The post holder must be able to plan & prioritise their own workload when required and assist in ensuring students within ultrasound receive adequate training within the department & where appropriate be involved in the supervision and clinical training of students, other qualified staff & Assistants.


They must have good communication skills, being able to communicate sensitive information to a broad range of patients so they understand the implications of the findings & where possible they must be able to reassure the patient.

When having to impart difficult information empathy & understanding is essential.


It is important that they have the expert clinical knowledge & skills to carry out appropriate ultrasound examinations; they must also be able to make a clinical judgement based on assessing and interpreting the ultrasound findings, report on their findings, making a diagnosis, where possible.

Write reports in a clear concise manner & communicate these findings to colleagues to ensure the patient receives appropriate treatment.
