Job Summary

  • The Senior Radiographer will be experienced in assessing and treating their own workload, ensuring high standards of patient care by managing legal documentation on RIS and PACS.
  • They will consult with senior staff when needed and take responsibility for their professional actions, prioritizing the department's caseload and providing guidance to patients and healthcare professionals.
  • In addition, they will lead the supervision and training of Radiographers, Assistant Practitioners, and Student Radiographers.
  • This role involves managing the plain film radiographic service efficiently across multiple sites, ensuring top-notch patient care within a multidisciplinary team.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Act as an Operator under the IR(ME)R Radiation Regulations, ensuring clinical justification of referrals.
  • Advocate for patient and staff safety to minimize radiation exposure.
  • Provide courteous radiographic services, considering clinical, physical, and cultural needs of patients/clients.
  • Monitor work priorities to meet A&E Targets, adjusting to changing demands.
  • Apply knowledge of anatomy, pathology, and equipment to choose appropriate imaging techniques.
  • Maintain and operate specialized imaging equipment safely.

Job Responsibilities

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc Radiography (or equivalent)
  • Health Professions Council (HPC) Registration

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualification in Musculoskeletal or Chest Reporting

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrated competence in various radiography equipment
  • Experience in a multi-disciplinary team and supervision/training
  • Skills in operating VDU equipment
