Edinburgh, Edinburgh, United Kingdom Storm ID Full time

The Role

As a Technical Consultant you will be responsible for leading client engagements to elicit, interpret and document technical needs. In addition you will provide recommendations whilst working with Storm ID technical leads in generation of target technical architectures.

About you

You may have experience as a technical consultant, solution architect or developer but, above all, you will have demonstrable hands on knowledge of architecture and delivery of modern cloud native software.

You'll be:

  • able to bridge the gap between the technical and non-technical and translate technical concepts so they are understood by clients/Storm ID colleagues within documentation, conversation and presentations
  • able to work independently to manage relationships with client stakeholders at all levels, from senior clients to development teams
  • an analytical thinker with the ability to quickly absorb new information and identify key concepts.
  • passionate about improving outcomes for clients and their end users
  • enthusiastic about supporting the growth of technical consulting within Storm ID
  • able to work to tight deadlines, in a commercial consulting environment
  • open to learning from others, and offering your support when needed
  • enthusiastic about staying up-to-date with the latest technology and methodologies

Ideally, you will also have

  • experience / strong working knowledge of Microsoft technologies such as Microsoft Azure cloud services. However, relevant experience in other cloud platforms will be considered
  • experience in a technical consulting / technology professional services environment
  • experience of working within enterprise projects with a strong data focus which could include data engineering, data platform design, data analytics, machine learning or AI.

One more thing – research indicates that marginalised groups of people may not apply for jobs unless they meet 100% of the qualifications. We also know that individuals come from many backgrounds. We value people who bring unique perspectives and new knowledge to our team. If you believe you're qualified, but don't "check all the boxes", please submit an application.

What you'll do

You'll have a wide range of responsibilities. Here are some examples to give you a flavour of what you'll do:

  • undertake structured analysis of client technical requirements and identify issues, risks, constraints and opportunities, and provide targeted actions and technical recommendations to resolve them.
  • lead in creation of technical documentation, which may include technical specifications, technology options appraisals, technology roadmaps, technical discovery reports, and architecture diagrams.
  • assess and research technology options available for a variety of situations and constraints with input as needed from technical leads.
  • support technical leads in creation of target technical architectures by gathering technical requirements and through enabling clients to make technical decisions.
  • develop a deep understanding of Storm ID development technologies and methodologies.
  • develop strong understanding of client organisational challenges.
  • input into pre sales activity such as proposals, meetings and statements of work.

Did we mention that we offer flexible working which includes remote or hybrid. We want to make sure our people have the flexibility to be the best they can be. We also offer a fully remote/ virtual recruitment process and onboarding to ensure that we can accommodate as many individuals from across the UK.
