Scope and General Purpose:
Chestfield Golf Club is one of Kent's most exciting and up-and-coming golf clubs. It is renowned throughout the county for its unrivalled surfaces, warm welcome and extensive history and tradition. The Club requires a team of exceptional, dedicated and enthusiastic staff to maintain and enhance this reputation. The quality of the member and visitor experience must be of the highest standard and equivalent to, or better than, the finest golf clubs in the area.

Role Purpose:
Responsible for providing a first-class Golf Professional service to members, their

guests and visitors. To further improve the reputation of the Club, take the lead on Club marketing, and drive the performance of the teaching facilities at the Club. The Head Professional will be pivotal in the Club's management team.
The responsibilities and characteristics of this role will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Customer Service & Ambassadorial:

  • Welcome members, their guests and visitors to the Club
  • Develop and maintain the highest standards of service and member experience
  • Offer advice, assistance and guidance to members and guests on golf matters
  • Promote the Club and its services internally to the membership and external golf
governing bodies

Retail & Financial:

• Provide members and guests with a first-class Pro Shop providing:
  • A wide range of top-quality golf clothing and accessories
  • The latest in golf clubs and equipment through the Foremost partnership
  • Essential goods for golfers

• Assist the Golf & Retail Manager in developing the Pro Shop annual budget and sales plans to deliver financial

results against the agreed budget and target numbers

• Offer advice and support to the Golf & Retail Manager on the procurement of stock at the best price and maintain sales prices which are competitive and benefit our

members
  • Shared responsibility for the control and management of the Shop's stock
  • Maximise sales and revenues of Pro Shop stock
  • Have input into the written reports provided by the Golf & Retail Manager to the Club's Board on Pro Shop performance targets and budgets
Coaching:
  • Deliver a first-class golf coaching service for members, guests and non-members
  • Provide junior group coaching
  • Drive the academy program and oversee academy lessons
  • Build upon the existing Academy facility in maximising its usage in becoming a centre of excellence
Golf:
  • Play golf with members, including Captain & Professional challenges and some Club fixtures
  • Provide advice, support and assistance to the Greens sub-committee
  • Offer support and assistance to the golf operations team
  • Assist with the planning and running of Club fixtures, competitions and society days
Staff/Staff Performance:

• Lead the professional team by managing and developing staff performance and identifying
training and development needs. This will include recruitment, selection, and induction of new staff
  • Ensure clear communication and delegation of duties with all professional staff
  • Ensure work schedules are set which get the best out of the professional team whilst also
ensuring that

working regulations are adhered to and that the wider needs of the Club are met
  • Lead continuous improvement in standards of performance
  • Actively promote continued professional development for you and the Professional team
  • Set working standards for the staff, consistent with Club requirements, leading by example
  • Set and manage appropriate staffing levels/rotas following the budget
  • Provide staff with performance feedback and conduct formal staff
appraisals
  • Develop and manage staff training
  • Ensure staff are aware of and adhere to the rules in the Employee Handbook
  • Create a fair and enjoyable working environment for the staff
  • Hold regular team meetings with staff to inform them of their duties, upcoming events, and
wider club staff communications

Health & Safety/Compliance:

• Manage and maintain a safe workplace, compliant with current health & safety

regulations
  • Ensure all work practices are in line with all documented instructions and guidelines
  • To implement and monitor policies and procedures
Additional responsibilities include:
  • Communicating to the membership through emails and presentations
  • To be present for major Club events and competitions
  • Provide input and support to all other areas of the Club's operation
  • Keep up-to-date and well-informed of any changes to the Club and its operations, and
external professional developments in the wider golf industry

• A high level of communication and feedback will be required between the Professional and the General Manager and all subordinate staff to ensure that instructions are followed and

expectations are met

Responsible for the successful operational management of:
  • Professional Shop
  • Driving Range and Academy facilities
  • Golf buggy and trolley fleets
