This is an excellent opportunity to help create a leading digital leadership function in the NHS. Reporting to the Associate Director - Digital Operations, the Systems and Development Lead is our Trust Integration Engine lead, responsible for leading our Systems and Development teams. These teams comprise of: Systems (EPMA, EMIS, System One and RiO), Digital Development, Clinical Systems Helpdesk, Systems Training, Transformation and Deployment Systems Administration. This role will provide effective leadership and direction to ensure high performance and delivery of complex large scale application upgrades and replacements. Accountable for the development and delivery of a renewal and upgrade for Trust digital applications, the successful candidate will be working in collaboration with our Programme Management colleagues.

Main duties of the job We are looking for an experienced leader with proven management skills and significant experience working closely with clinical systems. You will be accustomed to leading clinical systems upgrades, and proficient in the use of digital tools. We are looking for the successful candidate to showcase a proven track record of building strategy and delivering transformation for clinical systems in a complex environment. You will be accustomed to working with suppliers and comfortable engaging with stakeholders across the business. The scale of response to the COVID-19 pressures, particularly enabling remote and mobile working, and setting up the Stratford vaccination centre, has been remarkable. However, there are also significant challenges to address. Digital tools and services are now fundamental to the management and delivery of our services.   • Educated to Masters level or equivalent experience
  • Management/leadership qualification or equivalent experience

EXPERIENCE Essential
  • Extensive experience of system configuration, deployment, support, training, development and maintenance
  • Experience of leading a testing team for clinical systems in an NHS Trust setting
  • Experience of leading on upgrading clinical systems in an NHS Trust setting
  • Responsibility for management of significant budget including budget setting and adhering to financial processes and procedures
  • Proficient in use of Digital systems
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office
  • Risk management and governance
  • Proven experience of working in a senior management/leadership role
  • Experience of managing and motivating a large team or teams
  • Leading significant changes in practice in a complex environment to improve performance/services
  • Leading complex and multi faceted work streams
  • Identifying and interpreting national policy and implementing required changes
  • Business case development
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Essential
  • In depth understanding of change management
  • Financial procedures including budget setting and working knowledge of financial processes
  • In depth understanding of the current NHS agenda and healthcare policy including transformation and workforce
  • Good understanding of the relationship between providers and commissioning organisations
  • Demonstrable knowledge of service improvements and project management

  • High level of analytical and problem solving skills - ability to analyse highly complex data & sensitive information and make high level judgements including ability to responding timely manner to planned and unexpected demands
