  • A company van and tools
  • Start/finish on your own driveway (paid from the moment you get in the van to the moment you get home)
  • Huge variety of travel and enormous satisfaction
  • A famous brand that our customers love

This is the job:

Solution bringers. Day makers. Extra milers. We are the AA. And we keep everyone pointing in the right direction. There for our customers wherever and whenever they need us, we're always ready for anything. That's why, for over 100 years, we've continued to evolve and adapt.

Today, as the nation's number one motoring organisation, we offer a range of excellent products and services to millions of customers.

As a
Signs Installer, you will be installing and removing AA signs and traffic management equipment for events and working either alone or as part of a team.

You'll always go the extra mile for our customers. In return, we'll go the extra mile for you, with excellent training, support and development opportunities.

What will I be doing?:

You'll be part of a national team helping thousands of motorists find their way with clear recognisable temporary directional signs and our traffic management service.

You'll be supporting some of the UK's best and largest events, installing and removing instantly recognisable signs, as well as support for other AA operations.

You will organise and check the signs and traffic management equipment required and follow maps and schedules to place and remove signs in the correct location.

As you travel from job to job, you'll call on all your knowledge of the national road network, training and safe systems of work to complete your work.

You will often be working alone but our schedulers and dedicated sales, admin & support team will only ever be a phone call away.

There will be opportunities and requirements to work away from home at various events around the country, but don't worry all your accommodation and expenses are covered

We'll give you all the equipment you need which includes:

  • An AA liveried van with all the relevant tools
  • A phone and a tablet
  • An AA uniform, safety clothing and kit

We'll pay your fuel costs, and your shift starts and ends from your driveway, so you can say goodbye to time wasted on commuting.

One week of comprehensive induction in Oldbury, West Midlands, with all expenses covered, followed by a period of on-the-job training, will get you fit for life on the road.

What do I need?:

  • You must have a full category B driving licence
  • You will be physically fit to carry out a role that involves daily heavy lifting of signs and equipment.
  • We'll expect you to be comfortable working with and adapting to new technology, so basic IT skills are essential
  • The ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • Previous traffic management / highways working experience is not essential and full training will be given if necessary
  • Your shifts could include evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays so you'll need to be flexible and ready to drive to all kinds of locations, in all weathers, and work quickly and efficiently.
  • Most importantly, your problemsolving skills are matched by your flair for dealing with all kinds of people and great time management. Whatever the situation, you'll be able to communicate in a calm, friendly and reassuring way.

Special Conditions:

Annualised hours - you'll be paid the same salary each month, but your working hours will flex to meet the demands of the operation.

Working patterns and rest day schedules are irregular by virtue of the nature of the role linked to the requirement to operational commitments during the peak summer event period.

You will be required to work outdoors on the highway and also on event sites in all weather conditions without supervision.

Although you'll be ready to drive to all kinds of locations your shift starts on your driveway, from time to time there will be opportunities and requirements to work away from home,

A significant degree of flexibility and understanding of the business working pattern requirement is needed to ensure that new employees can successfully adapt and fully integrate.

You'll need to be comfortable working from a ladder at the roadside; up to a height of 3.5 metres.

Other reasonable duties to support other AA activities will be required from time to time, training will be provided.
