Our home at the London Stadium has a capacity of 62,500 making it one of the biggest club Stadia in the country however our tickets are the lowest priced for London based clubs in the Premier League, echoing objectives to create Affordable Family Football.


In 2018, our Women's team gained a professional status for the very first time, jumping 2 divisions and competed in the Women's Super League (WSL), the premier division of women's football in England.

After finishing a respectable 7th, the team enjoyed particular success in the FA Cup reaching the final of the competition, eventually being beaten by 2017 winners Manchester City.


In April 2019, we opened our brand-new Academy facility based at Chadwell Heath which will help to bring through some of the very best talents in the area, the recent emergence of First Team Players Declan Rice and Ben Johnson are a testament to the work already being done at the Academy.


On the business side, we are continuing to create a Stadium our supporters can call home, with the renaming of the Billy Bonds Stand and Claret and Blue pitch surrounding amongst the latest developments.

Additionally, the Club has achieved the Disability Confident Leader status.


The Club employees a constantly growing workforce of approximately 300 core staff and 500 Foundation and events staff, and is a truly unique place to work.

In October 2023, West Ham United was awarded the Advanced level of the Premier League Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Standard, recognising the Club's ongoing dedication and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI).

ob Purpose:

***Line managed by the Match Day & Events Head of Safeguarding, with the purpose of the role, is to assist the Safeguarding Team in responding appropriately to safeguarding incidents, concerns and allegations on matchdays and events while ensuring the Club are adhering to PL Standards, national and local legislation and further external regulators. Successful applicants will join a pool of Bank staff who, as required, will be available to work on both Home and Away matches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with the Matchday Safeguarding Managers and wider Safeguarding team to implement Safeguarding policy, principles, arrangements, and procedures across both WHU Women's and Men's first team matches, in both Home and Away settings.
  • Support in the briefing and delivery of match day aspects directly linking to Safeguarding, including but not limited to Ball Assistants, Mascots, youngsters attending matches and safe delivery of the accessible shuttle bus, and advising staff working with vulnerable groups.
  • Assisting the Matchday Safeguarding Managers in safeguarding case management, investigations and making referrals to external regulators or statutory authorities.
  • Being able to support a Match Day Safeguarding Manager to oversee and operate within a set area of the Stadium on a match day.
  • Support the Match Day Safeguarding Managers in responding to and handling alerts as they are presented from Event Control on a Matchday,
  • Can confidently and independently manage lowlevel concerns and issues.
  • Where Safeguarding Managers may be busy, be able to act as a confident 'hold' position on any higherlevel alerts or concerns.
  • Attend and support on Pre-Match meetings and briefings, typically 2 hours before kickoff and postmatch briefings,
  • Following required training or upskilling, be able to deputise for a Safeguarding Manager in the event of illness or annual leave.
  • Effectively communicate and link with safeguarding managers, leads and staff from visiting teams and those who may visit as part of an 'Away' fixture.
  • To support in giving direction and guidance to staff regarding safeguarding incidents, welfare concerns, and allegations and assist the Safeguarding team with managing these.
  • Assist in proactively promoting and raising safeguarding awareness on a match day
  • Support the promotion of a safe working environment.
  • Ensure sensitive information is held securely and is GDPR compliant, and all safeguarding and wellbeing concerns are logged appropriately on CPOMS.
  • Supporting the Director of Safeguarding and the broader team in coordinating and implementing safeguarding initiatives across the 'Club' as and when required.
  • Contribute to the safeguarding auditing and planning process.
