Are you interested in being part of a bilingual (BSL/English) and bicultural York outreach team?


This team will offer specialist assessments, compile reports and provide feedback to young deaf people, their families and referrers and, where possible, offer sign posting to services to support the recommendations / suggested therapeutic intervention(s).


We are looking for a dedicated, well organised Band 3 Support Secretary to join our team for 15 hours per week.


This role focuses on a pilot service: The 18-25 Deaf Mental Health Assessment Service (18-25

DMHAS), targeting young deaf adults within the Yorkshire & Humber area. The 24-month pilot aims to assess demand, address service gaps, and inform future commissioning.


This service will work within the established National Deaf CAMHS (Northern Arm) serves the North of England with outreach teams in York, Newcastle, and Manchester.

Check and action external post (use of spreadsheet tracker when needed)

Answer the office phone/respond to queries

Attend MDT meeting - take minutes/Action Log

Diary Management

Office duties (including filing, photocopying, stock check of admin products)

Petty Cash management

Ordering stock and processing Invoices

Processing referrals and clinical data on electronic patient record.


The Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) is the main provider of Mental Health and Learning Disability services in Leeds.

Knowledge of secretarial and general office duties (electronic and manual filing systems, faxing, photocopying etc.)

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Package

Ability to use remote video platforms eg. Zoom & Microsoft Teams

Demonstrate a good working knowledge of electronic diary management

Demonstrate and understanding of the responsibilities of working with confidential information.

Ability to take and transcribe minutes of local meetings

Ability to make informed decisions within the boundaries of the role


Demonstrate time management skills that will prioritise your workload and meet deadlines with direction from the Admin Team Co-ordinator/ Team Manager.

Ability to work within a team and to communicate effectively within that team.

Good organisational skills and ability to work under pressure.


Ability to cover for other admin colleagues and to ensure the smooth running of the admin team during the absence of the Admin Team Co-ordinator.


Demonstrate the ability to be flexible in responding to the needs of the service to ensure the smooth, effective delivery of the designated service.

Ability to work respectfully with deaf and hearing team members

Willing to attend BSL training
