Assistant Chief Financial Officer

The main focus of this role is on ensuring the financial sustainability of the relevant IHC supporting and driving the identification, management and delivery of CIP's and cash releasing savings initiatives.
The post holder is a senior finance professional within BCU Health Board and is expected to contribute significantly to the financial sustainability, financial management and budget strategy of the relevant IHC.
Responsibility for the management and provision of professional financial support, advice and information to the relevant IHC to enable them to effectively and proactively manage their respective budgets and finances to ensure the achievement of financial targets and the HB's statutory financial duties.
Ensure that the IHC's financial activities and systems are in line with corporate, policies and procedures and meet the highest standards of stewardship and probity to comply with corporate governance requirements.

The post provides leadership and professional management of the Divisional Financial Advisor Team, and advises and assists the CFO and Directors of Finance in the development of accounting, budgeting and reporting systems, strategies and plans.
A strategic and broad understanding of the financial environment that the NHS works within is essential as is an understanding of the full range of services the Health Board offers and how these services are operated in the context of patient need and demand.
Professional knowledge and understanding of accounting and governance policies and procedures.
Knowledge and understanding of Financial Costing Systems
Experience of senior finance position in large organisation.
Wide range of experience in the finance function, particularly within the areas of Management Accounting, Sustainability and Reporting organisation
In depth knowledge of financial and accounting procedures and financial aspects of NHS Legislation and policy Extensive experience of data manipulation, investigation and analysis.
