JOB TITLE: Head of IT at MSI-Defence Systems
COMPANY: MSI-Defence Systems
HOURS: 37½ hours per week from Monday to Thursday 0815 – 1700, Friday 0815 – 1245 (with early finish)
LOCATION: Norwich, NR7 (Office-Based Role)
We're on the lookout for a highly skilled and experienced individual to take on the role of Head of IT in our team. As the Head of IT, you'll be in charge of overseeing our technology operations and ensuring the smooth functioning of all aspects of our IT infrastructure. This is a senior position that calls for strategic thinking, strong leadership, and a grasp of technology trends and best practices.
In this capacity, you'll collaborate with various stakeholders to determine our technology requirements and formulate a comprehensive IT strategy. You'll handle the IT budget, introduce new systems and technologies, and ensure the timely and on-budget completion of all IT projects. Moreover, you'll supervise the IT support team to ensure end users receive prompt and efficient technical help.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of effectively managing IT teams and operations, implementing complex IT projects, and leading diverse teams. You should possess extensive knowledge and experience in IT infrastructure, systems, and cybersecurity. Strong communication skills and the ability to explain intricate technical concepts clearly and concisely are also vital.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
- Provide leadership and guidance to the IT team for timely technical support to end users
- Develop and implement IT strategies and policies to align with the company's objectives
- Analyze business needs by collaborating closely with the management team to provide optimal solutions
- Ensure company data security by establishing and executing robust security measures for compliance
- Act as the in-house expert for our internal ERP system, IFS
- Lead cross-functional teams and offer technical direction for successful IT project implementation
- Effectively plan and implement technological changes based on business requirements and provide necessary training
- Cultivate positive relationships with IT Service Providers to ensure cost-efficiency
- Manage the IT budget, forecasts, and promote cost-effective practices
- Design, produce, and implement executive reports and dashboards supporting business management
- Ensure IT activities adhere to relevant laws, codes, and regulations
ABOUT THE PERSON:
To thrive in this role, you must demonstrate the following attributes and skills:
- Bachelor's degree or HND in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent
- Proven experience in a similar leadership role, preferably as a Head of IT or IT Manager
- Solid understanding of technical management, data analysis, and computer hardware/software systems
- Comprehensive knowledge of managing IFS applications 10 or other Tier 1 ERP systems
- Experience with Oracle databases
- Familiarity with the Office 365 suite
- Working knowledge of Sophos security products
- Thorough understanding of cybersecurity standards and procedures, particularly in a defense business context
- Knowledge of business and financial processes in a manufacturing organization or equivalent
- Proven track record in managing IT operations and implementing complex IT projects successfully
- Strong leadership, team management, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships and influence senior stakeholders
- Capability to explain complex technical concepts in clear and concise terms
