We are recruiting for a Clinical Support Worker Higher Levelwho shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

We are a friendly and welcoming unit caring for patients with acute and chronic kidney disease.

You will provide assistance to the nursing team in the process of haemodialysis and work collaboratively and co-operatively to meet the needs of patients and their families within the sphere of his/her level of competence related to in-service training, at the discretion of the unit sister.

We offer a renal rotation programme across ward nursing, renal acute dialysis unit and haemodialysis units. Interested applicants will need to be able to work across our five dialysis sites based at Lister, Bedford, Harlow, Luton and St Albans.

We have a dedicated education team to support you with your professional development. You can take part in masterclasses, e-learning modules, action learning and clinical competency assessments

Main duties of the job

To provide a high standard of nursing care to meet the needs of patients with supervision and support from senior colleagues

Prepare each individuals environment, equipment and materials appropriately for the procedure prior to starting the procedure.

Prepare for, undertake and record haemodialysis treatment as delegated.

Be responsible for the accurate recording of clinical observations and data relating to patients care, ensuring any concerns are discussed with the senior colleagues.

To identify clinical changes in patients and seek timely advice from senior colleagues whenever necessary

Undertake the delegated task/assessments correctly, effectively, to time and report back on those aspects of assessments.

Move patients, machinery and goods in accordance with East & North Herts NHS Trust policies and procedures, whilst identifying and minimising the risks involve

Assisting with medication administration upon successful completion of level 3 apprenticeship and relevant competency assessment.

Previous Experience

Previous experience in a renal hemodialysis setting or in a clinical setting

Ability to communicate in a variety of settings with patients of varying levels of Y understanding Understanding of quality and change in the clinical setting Ability to work within a team Demonstrates a flexible approach to work

Basic IT skills or willingness to develop

Qualifications / Training

Essential

Good Basic education Renal Unit Training Programme part 1 competencies or equivalent Health related level 2 apprenticeship and QCF (or equivalent qualification). Willingness to successfully complete the level 3 apprenticeship and QCF as identified by department (or equivalent qualification) within 12 months of employment
