Our client is seeking to appoint a Mentor to work within the GAINN project to support young people aged 17-24 years old who suffer from anxiety and social isolation into education, work or volunteering.

Established in 2003 our client has served the local community for 20 years.

They play a key role in ensuring the Voluntary and Community Sector has a voice within the relevant local planning and decision-making structures for employment and skills.

They want to 'Enable' individuals, employers and community groups to provide opportunities for people to bring their best selves to work and life.


You will:

  • Work closely with senior leaders, to proactively engage with and support young adults aged Quickly establishing a strong rapport with individuals with autism and ADHD, you will be responsible for providing a thorough and intensive mentoring service that is responsive to the individuals needs and designed to move them closer to their identified goals.
  • Positively challenge and encourage young people to take control of their futures, supporting them to move quickly through their unique actions plans to guide them on their GAINN journey, in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with team members responsible for providing broader, wrap around support to ensure all young people on the project are supported to access services and enrichment activities available to them such as counselling, taking part in extend activities, training and work experience related activities.
  • Be confident in managing your own active case load of up to 45 young people at any one time, ensuring contact is maintained into training, volunteering and/or employment.
  • Act as an external advocate for individualised peer mentoring as a best practice method of supporting those hardest to reach.
  • Grow existing relationships with partner organisations and community stakeholders, actively identifying new cohorts and partners, ensuring this information is shared with project leads.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience

  • Have an IAG qualification level 2 or above or be willing to gain this qualification.
  • Have knowledge of the local area and the services which are offered
  • Employability, sports and craft skills would be advantageous
  • Able to travel to Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough and Desborough

What we offer

  • This is a 40 week a year contract (Fixed term contract until April 2024)
  • Part time hours 15 hours (flexible to work afternoons and evenings)
  • Salary £22,000 pro rata
