Cancer Service Improvement Nurse

The post holder will play a key role in building and maintaining relationships with primary and secondary care across the ICB geography, working collaboratively and influencing, in these settings.
Promoting, improving awareness of symptoms of cancer, uptake of cancer screening, consistency of quality of referrals, especially in target demographics where take-up has traditionally been low.
The post holder will work with ICB leaders and its structures in the ICB Planned Care, Cancer and Diagnostics Team and across the wider planned care portfolio.
Working under the leadership and direction of the ICB Clinical Lead and the Delivery and Improvement Lead for Planned Care Cancer.
Clinical supervision will come from the Head of Planned Care and for professional accountability to the Chief Nursing and Therapies Officer.
The role will promote and support the cancer portfolio across primary and secondary care, to be a credible support for GPs and general practices in settings across the ICB.
Working with general practice teams to provide specialised advice and facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of initiatives that promote cancer awareness and training.
Developing and delivering clinical programs and education to professionals, regarding cancer screening and supporting activities to improve uptake within general practice.
To review practice level data on cancer referrals, diagnosis and support practices to improve timely referral where indicated.
Working with general practice and PCN to improve consistency in the quality of referrals and developing and delivering clinical audits particularly in respect to consistency of quality of audits.
To contribute to the implementation of associated services for patient and their families, proposing changes in conjunction with working groups which have wider implications for developing successful service-wide delivery improvements and patient outcomes
The Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB) is responsible for planning functions; managing the NHS budget and arranging the provision of health services in the geographical area.
Travel on occasions to a Hub location with at least 1 days notice
New starters are expected to collect IT equipment, from offices in Stoke-on-Trent, and if based at home are required to have appropriate desk/chair/ relevant equipment in compliance with DSE regulations
Unconscious Bias/Invisible Disability Training and Equality Induction are mandatory.

The role requires a mixture of remote working and travel across the ICB, directly liaising with GP Practices and in partnership with the WMCA to increase integration of service improvements and to reduce variation in services, which contribute to health inequalities.
The post holder will play a key role in building and maintaining relationships with primary and secondary care across the geography of Staffordshire & Stoke on Trent.
The post holder will be required to work with and support primary care teams in the promotion of cancer awareness, early diagnosis and referral to treatment.
They will facilitate and promote the health and well-being and survivorship of people living with and beyond cancer for example by promoting survival diagnosis.
The post holder will promote improving awareness of symptoms of cancer, consistency of quality of referrals and will promote the uptake of cancer screening especially in target demographics where take up has traditional been low.
The post holder will work collaboratively across the ICB to identify and share good practice and promote optimal outcomes for people living with cancer and will be a credible and effective support for general practice and PCNs.
The post holder will support ICB staff by offering advice, guidance and practical help to all clinicians and managers in relation to cancer to enable them to develop and commission the highest standards of 'evidence based' health care to clients within the given resources.
The post holder will work with ICB leaders and its structures and with the ICB Planned Care, Cancer and Diagnostics Team and across the wider planned care portfolio, working under the leadership and direction of the ICB Clinical Lead and the Delivery and Improvement Lead for Planned Care.
