Our Corporate Tax Team is expanding nationally, catering to clients across various industries such as retail, technology, and construction. We partner with owner-managed enterprises, private equity-backed firms, and global corporations, assisting them with tax compliance and providing advisory services. This includes handling Mergers and Acquisitions as well as Research and Development tax matters.

Our Transactions Tax experts offer a range of services including tax due diligence reviews for both buy-side and sell-side transactions, advising on private equity and similar structures, vendor support, and tax planning for management. Due to sustained growth, increased client demands, and significant M&A Tax engagements, we are in search of a Director to join our National Transactions Tax team. The location of the successful candidate is flexible.

About the position

As a key member of RSM's national team of M&A Tax specialists, you will collaborate closely with a Transactions Tax Partner, playing a vital role in delivering complex and high-quality projects in the field of transactions tax. Working in conjunction with our exceptional Corporate Finance Department and leveraging RSM's global network, you will be at the forefront of advisory work in Transactions Tax.

Responsibilities:
  • Playing a key role in M&A tax projects, ensuring the delivery of technical work aligns with the firm's standards and meets client agreements regarding costs and timelines.
  • Proactively managing existing client relationships, promptly addressing internal and external inquiries.
  • Leading due diligence projects by overseeing corporate tax aspects and collaborating with other specialist teams as needed.
  • Providing tax structuring advice pre- and post-transaction to offer tax-efficient solutions to clients.
  • Enhancing personal and professional visibility internally and externally through networking events, articles, technical sessions, and presentations on specialized topics.
  • Maintaining a high level of technical expertise through ongoing learning and development activities, meeting CPD requirements of professional bodies.
  • Supervising and nurturing junior staff members, including task delegation, work review, on-the-job coaching, and feedback provision.
  • Briefing junior team members on client operations and project instructions, supervising work completion.
  • Collaborating with the Transactions Tax Partner to drive new business, particularly in the private equity sector, and participating in proposal creation for potential projects.
  • Reviewing personal development goals and aspirations, engaging in career discussions with your manager to leverage strengths and understand available training and support resources.
  • Fulfilling any other duties within the job's scope and purpose as requested by the line manager, Head of Department, or a Partner.

About the ideal candidate

  • Preferably CCTA / ATII qualified or equivalent, ideally with an accounting qualification such as ACA or ACCA.
  • Experience at the Assistant Manager or Manager level (or equivalent) is essential, or possessing the necessary skill set for the role.
  • Sound knowledge of Transactions Tax, either as a specialist or within Corporate Tax.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in client management and relationship building.
  • Embraces an inclusive approach to mentoring and supervision, displaying effective coaching skills.
  • Exposure to or interest in business development is beneficial but not mandatory.
