Citizens Advice Cheshire North is looking for an administrator for 12 hours per week (Wed - Fri 9:00am - 1:00pm), to join our busy and friendly team based in Macclesfield.

This is an exciting opportunity to help us meet increasing demand for our advice services in these challenging times.


As our Service Administrator you will work from our Macclesfield town centre location, bringing the whole service together by supporting the day to day running of the organisation, as our client-facing services work from multiple locations.


You'll have the ability to use your own initiative and work independently to support the whole service with your excellent administrative and organisational skills.

You will have a commitment to the aims and principles of the Citizens Advice Service.

General purpose of role:

To provide an effective support to the overall running of the advice service at Citizens Advice Cheshire North, to cover initial contacts to the organisation, either from clients or other third parties as well as supporting systems to allow the effective running of the organisation.


As well as a personable and empathetic manner, the post holder will need to be very well organised and able to respond to changing demands on their time.


Person specification

  • Ability to commit to and work with the aims, principles and policies of the Citizens Advice service.
  • Ability to give and receive feedback objectively and sensitively and with a willingness to challenge constructively.
  • Ability to monitor and maintain own standards.
  • Ability to use IT systems and packages and electronic resources in the provision of advice, record keeping and document production.
  • Ability and willingness to work both on one's own and as part of a team.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development, including a willingness to develop knowledge and skills in advice topics.

Key areas of work.

  • Answering the services administration line and managing the call effectively
  • Maintaining all office supplies and where necessary ordering replacements in good time
  • First point of contact for issues raised by paid staff and volunteers
  • Inputting new staff and volunteers onto operational databases
  • Maintaining up to date database of all staff and volunteers
  • Maintain a staff and volunteer rota
  • Plan occasional promotional events across the locality
  • Maintain and action records for annual H&S checks
  • First point of contact for recruitment replies/expressions of interest

Other duties and responsibilities
Complete the required training to comply with quality assurance processes.


Carry out any other tasks that may be within the scope of the post to ensure the effective delivery and development of the service.

Demonstrate commitment to the aims and policies of the Citizens Advice service.

Abide by health and safety guidelines and share responsibility for own safety and that of colleagues.

Please note that this is not a remote position. The Service Administrator will be expected to work on-site at our office location.
