Safe Hands Nursery located in Diss, Norfolk which currently has a Ofsted rating of
Good are looking for a passionate cook.

To prepare, cook and present age-appropriate food to high standards in a clean, tidy, safe and pleasant environment.

Work in partnership with the nursery team and parents at all times to support the nurseries care and education provision.

Keep accurate records of supplies and order replacements as needed within the nursery budget requirements.

This role requires working in collaboration with others and taking responsibility for working in line with regulatory requirements and Alpha Nurseries policies and procedures.


Main Duties Include:

  • To cook lunch for the children on a daily basis
  • Follow a set menu to provide a nutritious well balanced weekly menu taking into account all dietary needs
  • To be responsible for carrying out and recording all health and safety checks in the kitchen including fridge, freezer and food temperatures.
  • Clean the kitchen following the agreed schedule
  • To following all health and safety and environmental health regulations reporting to the manager any necessary action required
  • Ensure the kitchen and equipment are clean and safe and standards of hygiene are high
  • Complete the weekly shopping list
  • To keep accurate records using the 'Safer Food Better Business' Pack
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons they are responsible for or come into contact with.
  • To provide well balanced and nutritious lunches for the children, following all food safety regulations.

Person Specification

Knowledge

  • A Level two qualification in Food Safety
  • To have knowledge and understanding of environmental health regulations
  • A knowledge and understanding of health and safety
  • A knowledge and understanding of infection control.
  • A knowledge and understanding of healthy eating
  • To have an awareness of nutritional needs of young children.

Experience

  • Experience of working to Health and Safety regulations
  • Experience of working to COSHH regulations
  • Experience of providing healthy, well balanced nutritious meals
  • Some previous cooking experience desired
