Your key job responsibilities will include;

  • Manage Vehicle Engineering activities taking the programme(s) through gateways and technical checkpoints.
  • Manage engineering status through delivery and maintenance of the Platform Bandwidth Requirements and Vehicle Technical Specification.
  • Ensure that programme vehicle targets are achieved and manage target setting and status evaluation activities.
  • Manage issue resolution including design, architecture, attribute, build and fleet issues, ensuring the required monitoring and escalation is performed by the team through concern reviews, VIT, LCM, Start-Ups and Tech Forum where necessary.
  • Provide management guidance to the Vehicle Integration Team meetings and Technical Forums to ensure timely decisions are agreed for crossfunctional vehicle engineering issues across the programme(s).
  • Manage the team to deliver the required prototype vehicle builds, vehicle specification and bridging part definition, ensuring the vehicles are the correct pedigree for the required development activities.
  • Support management and planning of vehicle DVP activities, including creating and optimizing vehicle plans.
  • Together with the engineering teams, manage and report the overall DVP status to achieve the target timing and quality.
  • Lead the management of golden attribute vehicles and coordination of Vehicle Evaluation Team assessments.
  • Manage product engineering delivery, to ensure the team check and approve releases and sheet Cs to ensure engineering integrity, attribute performance and correct quantities and spares are ordered.
  • Support the containment signoff process against the attribute and signoff requirements.
  • Lead improvements to the VEM team function and/or process.
  • Support in the professional development of Vehicle Engineering Leaders & Coordinators.

Qualifications and Experience ideally required:

  • A Degree qualification in Engineering is preferable, although those without this qualification, but with relevant working experience will be considered.
  • You should be an experienced Vehicle Line Manager with a strong Automotive industry background with previous Whole Vehicle Engineering, Development or Testing knowledge.
  • You will ideally have a good understanding of Automotive Electric Vehicle & HV (High-Voltage) systems.
  • A strong technical engineering background is key here with experience of complex systems integration management.
  • You will have a proven track record of delivering robust and sound engineering solutions together with a strong knowledge of engineering issue investigations and problem solving.
  • Good experience in leading cross functional teams effectively to deliver viable engineering solutions is needed.
  • Previous vehicle attribute assessment experience would be useful.
  • Knowledge of CAD / Teamcentre is preferable.
