The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies is looking for an enthusiastic member of staff to join the small team within the Dairy Herd Health & Productivity Service (DHHPS) providing reception, secretarial and administrative services to veterinary surgeons, agricultural advisors and farmers.


The Opportunity:


The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies and Roslin Institute is a one-of-a-kind centre of excellence in clinical activity, teaching and research.

Our purpose-built campus, set against the backdrop of the beautiful Pentland Hills Regional Park, is home to more than eight hundred staff and almost eighteen hundred students, all of whom contribute to our exceptional community ethos.

We represent the largest concentration of animal science-related expertise in Europe, impacting local, regional, national and international communities in terms of economic growth, the provision of clinical services and the advancement of scientific knowledge


The post holder will provide DHHPS reception, secretarial and administrative services to the staff within the DHHPS, ensuring day-to-day support including typing, filing and photocopying.

You will also provide support for ongoing clinical research projects, including input and analysis of data.

You will also help cover responsibilities of the Research Technician when away, and so a degree of flexibility is required.


Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Good educational background
  • Experience in a similar secretarial role
  • Excellent audio/typing skills, including use of Dragon Speech-ToText software
  • Pleasant telephone manner and excellent customer service
