ABOUT THE ROLE
- We're looking for a highly committed and creative scientist to join the bioinformatics research group at Northumbria University.
- You'll be developing new data science methods utilizing public data from UKBiobank, dbGAP, and internal Whole Sequence data, along with cutting-edge AI/ML technologies.
- The role involves creating an integrative 3-step Predictive framework, including modeling Polygenic risk Scores (PRS), refining Disease Risk Prediction, and stratifying individuals into optimal groups based on predicted risk.
- You'll evaluate the developed framework using Genome-wide Association Studies (GWAS) data and deploy it into a web application linked to Cloud Computing resources.
ABOUT THE TEAM
- The role will be based at Northumbria University, working closely with Professor Emile R. Chimusa. Traveling and attending specialist meetings and conferences will be part of the role.
- The department has a focus on life science research and state-of-the-art multi-omics laboratories.
ABOUT YOU
- Required: PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, statistical genetics, or related field.
- Strong understanding of polygenic risk scores analysis, AI/ML models, and programming in Python and R.
- Experience in large-scale genomic data analytics, web application development, and working in multidisciplinary teams.
