PRU Teaching Assistant

Qualiteach is currently working with a Pupil Referral Unit who is looking to take on an experienced PRU Teaching Assistant on a full time basis.

You will be required to support students who are at risk of being permanently excluded from their mainstream schoolor have been permanently excluded.

This could be for a number of different reasons including attendance, behaviour, gang related issues, young pregnancies etc.

All the students you will be working with will be working off of a slightly shortened time tableto ensure that all students attend and make the most of their education, their lessons will still include Maths, English and Science, as well as some vocational courses and life skills.

Due to some of the students lack of interest in education or the abilityto concentrate for long periods of time, they will try to disrupt the lessons and not want to take part and this will be shown through their behaviour.

When this happens, you will need to step in, calm them down and get them back into the classroom or takethem to a quieter area of the school.

Therefore, the ideal PRU Teaching Assistant must have previous experience in a PRU or a similar setting and have strong behaviour management skills.


Pupil Referral Unit

Found in the borough of Bromley, this Pupil Referral Unit caters for students aged between 11-16 years who are in the process of being permanently excluded or have been permanently excluded from their mainstream school.

They currently have 40 students who attendand in their last Ofsted in September 2017, they were awarded 'Good' in all areas.
