Mobile Playback Engineering, part of Media Services, is an integral part of the BBC's digital-first strategy, delivering consistent user experiences and core functionality across the BBC's mobile estate.

As a Senior Software Engineer within Mobile Playback, you'll be joining a team of engineers developing our Media Player components, the core playback engine of all video and audio content across the BBC online.

The BBC is globally recognized for the quality of the content we produce and the programs we broadcast.

We are seeking top-notch developers with a passion for technology to assist us in enhancing the media consumption experience for our audience in the digital era.

The media components we create are central to the BBC's popular products including iPlayer, Sounds, News, and Sport.

Whether you're catching up on your favorite BBC shows, listening to the radio, or tuning in to live sports, our media player ensures a robust and reliable playback experience.

As a Senior Engineer, you will contribute to feature development, bug fixing, code reviews, and play a key role in the entire development lifecycle.

We prioritize code quality and clean architecture.

We predominantly work in Kotlin, Java, Swift, and Objective-C.

You should have commercial experience in mobile development using languages such as Java, Kotlin, Swift, or Objective-C, along with a solid understanding of OOP, analysis, and design principles.

Additional qualifications include familiarity with software design patterns, iOS or Android architecture, web services integration, agile methodologies, Linux administration, shell scripting, Amazon Web Services, and Jenkins Pipelines.
