Purpose of the post:


To work closely with the Head of Adult Counselling and Wellbeing Services, the Adult Team Leader and the wider Adult Team in the safe delivery, direction and development of Adult counselling and wellbeing services for the benefit of the adults we support.

To offer an environment where adults feel safe and secure

To offer counselling/therapy tailored to the individual needs and abilities of each person.

To be aware of any safeguarding issues at all times and deal with in a timely and professional manner.

Responsible to:
Head of Adult Counselling and Wellbeing Services

Duties
-
Senior Adult Counsellor

  • Manage a team of counsellors to support adult survivors of sexual violence, sexual exploitation and sexual abuse.
  • Work closely with the Adult Counselling Team Leaders and other Adult Senior Counsellors, and wider colleagues to ensure fluid service delivery.
  • Work with the adult team to ensure that adults receive timely and compassionate support by managing waiting lists, targets and contracted outputs.
  • Provide support to the adult counselling team, and the CYP counsellors you work with too.
  • To report to the Head of Adult Counselling and Wellbeing Services
  • To be a trained safeguarding officer and provide support to counsellors during your hours of work
  • To be a trained fire marshal.

Counselling

  • To work with clients in a therapeutic way.
  • To work with clients in a culturally sensitive way.
  • To work in a confidential way, in order to protect client's personal information.
  • To make appropriate counselling notes after sessions.
  • To maintain good working relationships with external agencies, in order to inform clients or other appropriate agencies.
  • To maintain quality of the service.

Training and Development

  • Keep updated about good practice in specialist support for survivors of rape, sexual violence, sexual exploitation and childhood sexual abuse.
  • Identify training needs within the counselling team
  • Retain selfawareness when working with clients.
  • Monitor the personal impact of this work and to seek support, guidance and supervision, where appropriate.
  • Receive support and workplace supervision
  • Take part in an annual appraisal.

Supervision

  • Attend and participate in regular clinical supervision.
  • Keep a log of supervision attendance.

Self-Management

  • Work in a cooperative and teambased manner, respecting role boundaries but not in a rigid way.
  • Prepare for and attend supervision and appraisals.
  • Identify own training and development needs.
  • Comply with all RSVP and BACP policies and procedures.
