This is a new post in response to retirements and developing service needs.

The appointee will work as a member of the consultant team providing clinical care, support and supervision of clinical services, especially in view of increase in number and complexity of complex presentations, such as patients presenting following sexual assault.

They will be expected to work in close cooperation with other colleagues to manage provision of high-quality health care through the most effective use of resources.

They will contribute to effective clinical governance, including regular audits, and provide teaching and training and be key in developing research opportunities within sexual health

CLINICAL

The post holder will be based primarily at the Churchill Hospital with rotational sessions in Banbury (level 3) and any of our peripheral clinics.

It is a condition of the appointment that the post holder is willing and able to travel independently to work in any of the Trust's locations.

Saturday sessions (morning only) may be required on occasion, with appropriate time-off-in lieu.

DIRECT
CLINICAL CARE
:

The post holder will:

  • Provide clinical care up to level 3 in sexual health clinics across the specialism of sexual health.
  • Work as an effective team member with colleagues to deliver quality care across all clinic settings in the OSHS.
  • Provide facetoface clinical support at the level 3 services in either Oxford or Banbury (rostered).
  • Work at least one and up to 2 evening per week (till 7pm) excluding travel time.
  • Work in peripheral locations as required in job plan or from time to time if required because of unscheduled rostering changes working flexibly with team colleagues.
  • Maintain accurate patients' records to trust standard.
  • Participate in a fair share of clinical administration, for example, checking microbiology reports, dealing with enquiries from colleagues, corresponding with patients and their general practitioners, as well as regularly being rostered as 'senior cover' times dependent on job plan.
  • Develop and maintain training links with GPs, other medical specialties or agencies and ensure appropriate referrals for specialist clinical care are made as necessary.
  • Ensure they work within the Trusts Clinical governance framework, ensuring a safe clinical service, as well as promoting a safe working environment. Record and report accidents according to agreed Trust policy.
  • Work with the safeguarding team to ensure safeguarding in the service.
  • No inpatient work is required, although inpatients may be referred into the service for appropriate care and treatment.

Training/ Education:

The post holder will:

  • Assist in the training and support of trainees in the department
  • Provide clinical oversight and training during routine clinics for internal and external staff
  • Provide training teaching and OSCE assessments for medical students
  • Actively take part in departmental teaching
  • Assist with external training as per commissioning requirements and service need
