This role includes the following key duties: To undertake pre-admission liaison with families and other professionals, setting goals for admission. To provide physiotherapy assessments and interventions on an individual basis which supports the CYPs holistic care during their stay. Supporting the health care and play teams within the hospice in the CYP physical management including advice on 24-hour postural care, providing respiratory support and advice, hydrotherapy, and active therapeutic input integrated within their day plans. To enable CYP to access their aids and equipment appropriately during their stay, working with community providers, company reps and the Practice Education team to ensure all relevant staff can continue to undertake this, and actively participate in upskilling training and education.

To be proactive with discharge planning and liaison. Attendance at relevant OP clinics including undertaking relevant standardised assessments and provision of advice and support.

To liaise with relevant community and acute therapy teams to ensure continuity of care throughout different settings and working towards common goals.

Supporting transition from hospital to home.


Working with the acute setting in supporting CYP with end-of-life support, working within wider MDT including palliative consultants across all settings.

Be an integral team player into both NH/JP MDT and UHS paeds therapy teams. To provide leadership to the therapy service within NH/Jacksplace. To provide supervision and teaching /training to the B6 within NH/JP and other relevant staff including students.

To work with higher level management and local and national networks on identifying and implementing service improvements.

To work closely with familiesand other multi-professional teams involved in the CYPs care across health, social services and education including specialist teams e., LTV services.

To provide appropriate screening for access to hydrotherapy for therapeutic use.

To undertake hydrotherapy to a designated group of CYP meeting the criteria post screening to access the service at Naomi House/Jacksplace.

To liaise and teach other staff within Naomi House/Jacksplace basic handling skills within water, to enable them to undertake sessions within the pool environment as part of play, and activities for positive experience without a specific physiotherapy goal

You will be expected:
To be able to drive and transport heavy equipment. To be able to work in a variety of settings including schools, and patient homes.

To be able to have ability to work with children with complex needs within different equipment and positions including on the floor, hydrotherapy and be able to manual handle accordingly.


To be water-confident and able to undertake hydrotherapy To be an autonomous practitioner with ability to maintain and update clinical skills and keep up to date with emerging therapeutics and interventions via EBP.

To understand the wider needs of services supporting other job roles providing cross cover and undertaking departmental responsibility to support whole service provision being an integral part of the NM team, the paeds therapy and the wider therapy services department.

To be able to manage working with bodily fluids and helping with personal care and chest clearance techniques.

To be clinically competent in management of the childs holistic needs including respiratory management and chest clearance techniques including cough assist.

To be able to identify deteriorating needs and to be able to act and escalate appropriately. To be experienced in working in challenging and emotive situations with active coping strategies and resilience. Working patterns are rostered with an expectation that for specific occasions weekend working will be expected. Including the need for upskilling and maintaining respiratory competencies.

Either within NH/JP or within UHS- working across the ward and high care areas (PICU/HDU)
