Job Description:
nAs a Health and Safety Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, contractors, and visitors.nYou will be responsible for implementing and maintaining effective health and safety practices in accordance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:nMonitoring changes and updates to health and safety regulations, standards, and guidelines.nProviding comprehensive training on health and safety legislation to staff and contractors.nConducting health and safety inductions for new hires and visitors.nLeading and organizing Health and Safety Committee meetings, ensuring all actions are recorded.nManaging First Aid provisions, including conducting Mental Health Assessments and maintaining stocks.nConducting incident and accident investigations and maintaining the Accident Report Book.nSupporting occupational health assessments and surveillance.nAssisting the Facilities Team with fire safety and emergency evacuation procedures.nConducting regular facility inspections and issuing PPE as necessary.nCoordinating safety signage throughout the organization.nSupporting health and safety assessments for manufacturing and laboratory operations.nProviding oversight of a Biosafety Class 2 Laboratory.nCreating permits to work and coordinating sanitary and drinking water monitoring.nProviding regular reports on health and safety to senior management.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
IOSH Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health Principles or NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
nDesirable:
IOSH/NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
Training/Experience:
Experience in health and safety regulations relevant to a High-Risk Laboratory & Manufacturing facility.nKnowledge of regulations including First Aid, COSHH, Biosafety, PUWER, Noise at Work, DSEAR, and LEV.nBackground in science is essential.
