They are looking to recruit an Interim Charity Accountant to cover a period of transition.

Interim Charity Accountant - The Role


As Interim Charity Accountant you will be involved in the migration to cloud accounting whilst maintaining the finances of the charity.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage and lead a small team;
  • Preparation of the monthly management accounts pack and quarterly reports with variance analysis;
  • Preparation and monitoring of the annual budget;
  • Assisting with cash flow forecasting;
  • Preparation of monthly income and fundraising reports;
  • Monthly control account reconciliations;
  • Preparing prepayments and accruals on a timely basis;
  • Manage the bank accounts and complete a monthly bank reconciliation;
  • Manage the AR and AP function;
  • Oversee the outsourced payroll;
  • Maintain and manage grants;
  • Analyse investments to ensure sufficient liquidity at all times;
  • Completing Gift Aid claims to HMRC;
  • Develop systems and improve reporting processes;
  • Manage the year end process and liaise with the external auditors;
  • Assisting with various aspects of governance and administration relating to the accounts;
  • Manage the transition to cloud accounting.

The Successful Applicant


As Interim Charity Accountant you will be a qualified accountant (AAT/ACA/ACCA/CIMA) who has experience of working in a similar role.


Ideally you will demonstrate:

  • A motivated and diligent approach;
  • Working knowledge of Sage 50 and/or Xero/Quickbooks desirable;
  • Charity experience desirable;
  • An ability to analyse and interrogate financial information;
  • Strong Excel skills;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently with a proactive mindset.
