Location: This role is based at Marischal Square, Broad Street, Aberdeen.

Duration: Fixed Term, Full Time position.

Mandatory Background Check:

Starting from 1 April 2023, candidates applying for positions that necessitate PVG membership will be responsible for covering the associated fees. This is applicable for roles with a full-time salary equal to or exceeding £30,000 per annum. The Council will initially cover the cost of PVG membership, set at £18 for existing members and £59 for non-members. The charges will be deducted from the employee's first full month's salary.

About the Role:

The Pension Fund department oversees the day-to-day operations of the North East Scotland Pension Fund, under the supervision of the Chief Officer - Finance and reports quarterly to the Pensions Committee and Pension Board.

The Pensions Officer - Training & Development is responsible for providing support in system development, as well as delivering training and development sessions for Pension Fund Benefit and Systems staff, both internally and externally.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Hold a certification in Local Government Pension Fund Administration
Key Skills:
  • Demonstrable expertise in Local Government Pension Scheme, enabling the training and mentoring of Trainee Pensions Officers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders
  • Proficient in organizing and prioritizing tasks
  • Excellent attention to detail in work delivery
  • Aptitude for interpreting financial data
