You will oversee efficient and effective financial accounting processes in support of the integrity of the Group's general ledger and the delivery of robust and well controlled financial information, which is used as the foundation of all of the Group's financial reporting.

You will maintain the integrity of the Group's financial information at all times, through reconciliation and financial accounting activities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards is maintained.

You will also deliver Group financial information on a timely and accurate basis, for use in month end, quarterly and year end reporting.

Lead the production of the Group VAT return, including coordinating inputs from various teams, running Alteryx workflows, reviewing outputs and working with the Head of Tax to finalise the return.

As a senior member of the Financial Control team, act as a role model for the Assistant Accountants and provide coaching and skills development support as required.

Support the Senior Accountant with review of junior team members' work as required, including journal approvals.

Contribute to Financial Control change agenda, including automation, development of new ways of working, making better use of available systems, and simplification of processes within Group/central areas.

Manage the preparation of subsidiary accounts for the STBG group and notes for the STBG group accounts.

Maintain effective working relationships with key internal providers including other Finance teams, Finance Systems Administration, Change and Business Information (BI) teams, and other teams across STBG as required.

Drive continuous improvement within Group accounting by proactively identifying opportunities for and managing implementation of process improvements, automation and providing support for projects and other ad-hoc duties as required.

Deliver other ad-hoc tasks/projects as agreed with line manager
Understanding of the basic principles of VAT, PAYE, corporation tax, and statutory reporting

  • Experience of operating in a Finance environment, including completing complex reconciliations
  • Proven communication and relationship building skills
  • IT literate and competent user of MS Office applications, including advanced MS Excel skills
