Practitioner

20 hours per week (44 weeks per year - includes school holidays)

Rate of pay

£11.00 p/h Plus annualised holiday pay entitlement

20 hours - approximately £10500 per year

Job summary

Hours of work will be

  • 20 hours = Breakfast club 7.30am 9.00am (Monday Thursday), After school club 2.15pm until 5.45pm (Monday-Thursday)
**Holiday clubs run if there is sufficient demand during the year, additional hours may be available.

Key responsibilities

  • To assist in the provision of children's play based activities that reflect our ethos, the social, educational, physical and recreational needs of the children.
  • To facilitate the positive integration of children and young people with disabilities, behavioural difficulties and/or special needs within the out of school club provision.
  • To ensure the wellbeing and safety of the children.
  • To build and maintain strong partnership working with parents to enable children's needs to be met.
  • Ensure the care and maintenance of equipment and materials.
  • To undertake any other reasonable and relevant tasks as identified by the manager.
Person specification Qualification /certificates

  • Relevant qualifications (SVQ 3/ HNC or above) is essential.
  • Knowledge of child protection, first aid and play.
Experience

  • Background in working with children in a play/childcare setting with at least 2 years experience.
  • Experience of working with children with additional needs would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Experience of observational play and play cycles would be an advantage.
Skills & Knowledge

  • Excellent communicator and an outgoing personality.
  • Good time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Willingness to commit to continuous learning through training opportunities.
  • Awareness of policies and procedures required in childcare environment although full training will be given.
  • The relevant knowledge of playwork principles and the benefits of play is desirable.
  • A full, clean driving licence is an advantage but not essential.
  • Good sense of humour
