Fund Operating Officer London £120,000 immediate temp contract
My client is one of the largest European Commercial Real Estate Debt operators in the world.


The Fund Operating Officer for Europe's commercial real estate debt funds will provide the fund managers, originators, and asset managers with close support in the financial reporting, financial management and operation of the commercial real estate debtplatform, and its funds and mandates.

The role will be part of a Portfolio Management team providing similar services to Europe's commercial real estate equity investment platform and its funds or mandates, which total €4bn of assets under management.

In commonwith many managers, day to day accounting and administration functions are outsourced to third parties, allowing the team to focus on high value add activities.

Quarterly investor reporting

  • The preparation and issue of capital statements and suite of investor reporting including bespoke reporting for certain LP's and other investor information requests as they arise.
  • Managing the quarterly investors' reporting timetables.
  • Coordinating the administrators' quarterly accounts preparation, consolidations, board packs and board meetings; reviewing the recording of key financial transactions: management fees; loan advances and repayments, valuations and provisioning, and interestaccruals.
  • Support fund managers in the preparation of high quality, informative reports of fund and mandate performance, adopting best industry practices and compliant with investor requirements.
  • Actively support asset management teams in the preparation of investor ESG reports.
Annual statutory reporting

The management and co-ordination of financial statements and statutory audits is the responsibility of Europe's Client Accounting function.

The role will be responsible for ensuring that fund and financial and operational matters are understood by auditteams, and for the identification, consideration, and resolution of high-level audit issues with senior members of external audit teams.


Financial performance:


Maintaining, calculating, and updating performance track records for funds, mandates and advances, and working with fund managers to optimise the financial performance of funds / mandates and advances.


Treasury:
Ensuring that funds and mandates have sufficient financial resources and liquidity to meet their obligations:

  • the negotiation, implementation and operation of subscription and other liquidity facilities such as repo facilities.
- design, documentation, and operation of inter-fund / mandate capital structures.
- working with fund managers to maintain medium term liquidity forecasts.
- provide support to fund managers to create FX hedging strategies and execute those that are approved by the fund managers.

Commitment management, drawdowns, and distributions:

  • Coordinating, reviewing the issue of investor drawdown and distribution notices.
  • Maintaining fund KPIs available commitments, returns of drawn capital, multiples and IRR's.

Taxation:


Supervise third party tax advisers in the preparation and submission of tax returns and other taxation reporting requirements of investors for funds and their SPVs, including active involvement in issue resolution and anticipation of taxation changes.

Funds and SPVs

Ensuring that effective financial controls and operating processes are in operation to ensure that funds, mandates and SPVs are managed and operated in compliance with investor mandates, regulatory requirements, Group policies, and key contracts

Third party administrators and Loan Servicers

Monitor the performance and service provision of third-party administrators, SPV directors and loan servicers and be responsible for the management and resolution of performance issues

3rd Party AIFMs

Point of contact with 3rd Party AIFMs ensuring that their regulatory risk management requirements are complied with.

  • 5 years+ post qualification experience (ACA / ICAEW preferable) with inhouse experience of real estate and investment management
  • Familiarity with commercial real estate lending
  • Strong project, leadership and relationship management skills and experience managing third party relationships with ability to multitask and prioritise effectively
  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a team, within a fastpaced, deadline driven environment
