Safeguarding Police Constable - Central Referral Unit (CRU)

Applications are invited for the newly created post of Safeguarding Police Constable within the CRU both internally and on transfer.


The CRU which is part of the Child Abuse and Vulnerable Adults (CAVA) department, is based within the local authority at Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland and Hartlepool working office hours Monday to Friday.

The main responsibilities will be attending Child Protection strategies, identifying crimes or PPN's required from incidents, liaising with Children and Adults Services to work together to support and safeguard individuals/families.

Assist in the development and delivery of Child Safeguarding Awareness initiatives.

The role is an ideal opportunity for officers aspiring to work in Safeguarding as a DC or be involved in multi-agency problem solving.


  • Be able to work in a multiagency arena with other agencies and organisations to ensure victims are dealt with holistically and they are referred to appropriate resources for support and assistance.
  • Identify crimes
  • Work well within a team but also with mínimal supervision
  • Be selfdisciplined and highly motivated
