RheEnergise is now seeking an experienced engineer/technician to oversee an innovative pumped hydro energy storage demonstration project at our test site near Plymouth, Devon.

Senior Test Engineer - About the Role

The Senior Test Engineer will be responsible for the operation and management of the Longer Duration Energy Storage (LoDES) site as well as implementing various test and development regimes that will progress the technology to a commercial level of maturity.

In the near-term, they will be involved heavily in the implementation of the project.

The successful candidate should have demonstrated experience with complex engineering projects, including a good understanding of PLC's, pumps and turbines, hydraulic systems and other relevant engineering systems.

Experience in the energy, hydro or water sectors would be an advantage.
This full-time position is based at RheEnergise's LoDES demonstrator site at Cornwood, Plymouth and reports to the CTO. Working is in-office/on-site or remote (as circumstances permit) and occasional travel will be required.
Senior Test Engineer - Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the recruitment and then line manage any local RheEnergise team members that might be recruited in the future.
  • Monitor and report on project status with engineering teams based in Canada on a regular basis.
  • Supervise the initial Fluid Mixing program, ensuring quality compliance and provide recommendations for the development of the process for commercial sized systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide regular project/engineering updates.
  • Ensure that all project documentation is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Develop and deliver training programs.
Senior Test Engineer - Requirements

  • Background in mechanical, electrical or test engineering.
  • Engineering degree or experienced technician.
  • The successful candidate will occasionally be required to work flexible hours as necessary to meet project deadlines.
  • UK Driving licence required.
  • Imaginative, creative problem-solver with a "get it done" attitude, attention to detail and pride in work.
  • Senior Test Engineer - Advantageous Skills
  • CAD (SolidWorks or similar), LabVIEW
  • H&S qualifications - NEBOSH
  • Forklift or telehandler qualifications
  • Electrical qualifications
  • Experience with sensor systems and data acquisition
  • PLC programming/troubleshooting
