Position Summary

Looking for an ace Data Protection Manager to protect esure's privacy and data protection framework. Your role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with data protection regulations. This dynamic position involves shaping and overseeing data protection policies, training staff on privacy standards, and performing regular risk assessments to fortify our data security. Come help us maintain the integrity of our data.

We need a seasoned Data Protection Manager who can work independently and dive right in.

This position is a hybrid model, with 2 days a week at our Reigate office.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Implement Data Protection Policies: Craft and enforce data protection policies and procedures.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Ensure data processing activities comply with UK GDPR and other regulations.
  • Data Breach Response: Aid in handling data breaches, including investigation, resolution, and reporting.
  • Training and Awareness: Conduct training sessions on data protection and privacy best practices.
  • Risk Assessments: Conduct DPIAs and privacy risk assessments for new projects and systems; compile residual risk summaries.
  • Legitimate Interest Assessments: Perform and upkeep balancing tests for LIAs.
  • Liaison with Regulatory Authorities: Act as the point of contact with regulatory bodies.
  • Risk Management: Identify, evaluate, and mitigate data protection risks.
  • Audit and Reporting: Support audits and generate compliance reports.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders for cohesive data protection practices.
  • Deputy for Group DPO: Serve as the alternate for the Group DPO when needed.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Law, or related field; advanced degree or GDPR & IAPP CIPP/E and/or CIPM certifications preferred.
  • Experience: Proven track record in privacy and data protection, preferably in financial services; in-depth knowledge of Data Protection Act 2018, UK GDPR, PECR, and ICO guidance.
  • Privacy Programs: Demonstrated experience in managing and implementing privacy programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Project Management: Strong ability to lead cross-functional projects and drive outcomes.
  • Reporting: Proficiency in crafting precise and concise reports/updates.
  • Analytical Skills: Sharp analytical mindset with keen attention to detail.
  • Judgment: Pragmatic business judgment in evaluating risks and business actions.
  • Presentation: Confident presenter to executive-level audiences.
  • IT Knowledge: Sound understanding of IT concepts relevant to privacy; high IT proficiency.
  • Multitasking: Capability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Independence: Able to work autonomously or as part of a team with minimal guidance.
