Haematology Patient Flow Coordinator

The primary function of this interesting role is to oversee and direct patient pathways, admissions and discharges into and out of the haematology service within a small team of coordinators.

Ensuring effective 'patient flow' is a critical part of the service that ensures patients can access acute haematology inpatient beds when they need them.


You will be a dynamic and experienced haematology nurse, with effective communication skills as well as the confidence to liaise with senior as well as junior staff.

You will be highly motivated wishing to develop and demonstrate leadership skills in a dynamic and genuinely supportive environment.

  • Ensure safety and efficient 'patient flow' in accordance with the principles and priorities set out in the UCH Operations
  • Tower Flow Policy
  • To provide expert cancer clinical and professional advice and guidance to staff as required.
  • To maintain a visible presence in the cancer wards.
  • Provide clinical management, leadership and positive role modelling.
  • The Oncology and Haematology Bed and Patient Flow Managers are charged to work as one cancer inpatient beds team and present accordingly to the Trust.

The haematology service at UCLH is one of the biggest inpatient acute haematology/BMT services in Europe with over 100 beds split over 6 dedicated wards and 3 closely linked sites.

Inpatients reside in the UCH Tower and Grafton Way Building and have important patient pathways that integrate with Cancer Day care, Ambulatory Care and Outpatient Services in the UCLH Macmillan Cancer Centre.
