The School Admissions Appeals Coordinator will be responsible for the preparations of appeals for both school admissions and transport. They will assist in the operation of the School Admissions team to ensure the statutory and discretionary functions are carried out efficiently and effectively with the highest possible customer service standardsAbout the role
The post holder will need to lead on the processing and preparation of formal admissions and school transport appeal hearings as necessary across the unit as well as support the key statutory functions of the service
Key areas will include:
- Supervisory responsibilities within their subteam
- Ensuring that arrangements and paperwork are in place for all appeal hearings
- Developing and maintaining mutually productive relationships with colleagues, partners, agencies, and families.
- Compliance with government legislation and national deadlines
- Providing competent, organised and professional support while handling sensitive and confidential information this includes development of admissions policies and procedures, pupil place planning and content for the website
The post holder will have relevant experience within school admissions and will be keen to develop relationships with colleagues in the wider Education Support Services Team
Key areas will include:
- Previous supervisory experience of both team members and tasks
- Experience in managing a large and diverse workload under pressure, including an ability to make and enforce decisions appropriately.
- Experience in communicating orally and in writing, often under pressure, independently and effectively this includes the ability to deal with sensitive and confidential issues that require a variety of approaches.
- Experience of drafting high quality documents in relation to statutory requirements including appeals and reports
- As a number of tasks are directly related to the cycle of the academic year, a proven ability to meet inflexible deadlines.
