What you'll do

As a Data Scientist, you'll be evaluating and improving business processes and products by building and testing hypotheses using customer data and statistical methods.

You'll be supporting and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on a wide range of businessproblems, including the prevention of financial crime, understanding customer interactions with the bank and the management of credit risk.


You'll also be:

  • Leading a team of data scientists to quickly find solutions for business challenges using a range of modern analytics tools and methods, including machinelearning
  • Communicating effectively across the functions and franchises to make business recommendations, influencing and gaining business buyin
  • Conducting analysis that includes data gathering and requirements specification in collaboration with business stakeholders
  • Iteratively building and prototyping data analysis and modelling pipelines to provide insights that will ultimately lead to production deployment

The skills you'll need

To succeed in this role, you'll need evidence of previous project implementation and work experience gained in a data science related field as part of a multidisciplinary team.

You'll hold a degree in a quantitative discipline or have evidence of equivalentpractical experience.

Additionally, you'll have experience building machine-learning models to test scientific hypotheses and good knowledge in statistical software, such as Python, SQL, Spark and AWS.


You'll also demonstrate:

  • Experience of leading, managing and coaching a diverse team of data scientists and identifying training needs and building curriculums to meet those needs
  • A good understanding and experience of articulating the risks relating to machinelearning model development, such as model bias and fairness
  • Experience of communicating with senior stakeholders across our franchises and functions, building trusted longterm relationships to build credibility
  • Experience of managing and prioritising multiple streams of work and resources in collaboration with other teams
  • A background of articulating and translating business queries and using statistical techniques to achieve a solution using available data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to adapt the communication style to a specific audience
