We are driving change through innovation and fresh approaches to our work. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate to join our Procurement and Supply Chain team.

As an Associate Buyer, your role will involve supporting the Senior Buyer and/or Buyer in identifying new opportunities to enhance commercial value through sourcing and ongoing contract management activities.

With guidance, you will execute sourcing (primarily mini-tender and call-off processes) and contract management tasks, collaborating with stakeholders to understand needs and expedite them through procurement and contract management procedures.

You will be the go-to person for transactional procurement processes, providing assistance and direction to ensure the smooth operation of procurement systems, accurate data maintenance, issue resolution, and contributing to the creation and implementation of portfolio and sourcing strategies for contracts up to a specified value.

In addition, you will be responsible for reviewing contract payments and claims according to contract terms, carrying out benchmarking to keep Cadent's agreements and contractor expenses competitive, and helping assess future contract risks and opportunities by examining supply chains through supplier research and market trends.

The Associate Buyer role also involves:
  • Proactive management of contracts by analyzing performance and assisting in resolving issues
  • Ensuring compliance with sourcing and contract management frameworks
  • Handling contract performance problems and developing resolution plans
  • Supporting supplier and contract relationship management activities and tracking supplier service levels and cost performance through KPIs
  • Assessing and predicting inventory levels, managing stock obsolescence where necessary, and supporting cost and commercial control processes for contracts up to an agreed value
  • Serving as a central source of expertise on the operation of procurement systems (such as Ariba), involving data management and problem resolution

Requirements:

  • Relevant commercial/procurement experience
  • Hold a valid UK Driving Licence
  • Experience in sourcing and other procurement activities, contract management, understanding of cost and commercial principles, leading supplier meetings, negotiations, etc.
  • Confidence in data analysis and presentation to guide sourcing/contract decisions
  • Understanding of EU and Utility Procurement Directives, preferably with evidence of managing a competitive compliant tender process

At Cadent, we are dedicated to helping our employees reach their full potential. Benefits include:

  • Annual bonus
  • Pension Scheme double matched up to a total of 18% of salary
  • 25 days holiday, plus statutory days, with the option to purchase additional leave
  • Great career development opportunities with funded learning options and support for exams, internal and external learning and development
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Comprehensive family support policies

  • 'My Offers' membership card for discounts and savings at numerous retailers
  • Free gym access at the Ansty office and a 'Gympass' scheme offering free or heavily subsidized local gym memberships

We strive for a healthy work-life balance for our employees and are open to discussing flexible working options that align with the role. Share your flexibility needs, whether it's reduced hours, remote work, flexible start/finish times, or compressed hours, and we'll explore possibilities together.
