Develop collaborative and co-operative relationships with other healthcare professionals. Responsible for the effective management of staff attendance and Rota systems. Role model behaviours to support IHGs vision and values.

Responsibility for Performance, Financial and Physical Resources Within scope of responsibility, manage resources efficiently and effectively.

Ensure that the environments in which care and services are delivered are fit for purpose, clean, maintained and meet national IPC and other performance standards.

Responsible for implementing effective risk assessment and management within own designated area, working closely with the other Matrons and the Quality and Governance team.

Contribute to the mobilisation of new services including the identification and fit out of premises, and the workforce design, recruitment, and training of staff.


Governance, Patient Safety and Quality Accountable for ensuring the appropriate and effective development, delivery and monitoring of patient care and service across area of defined responsibility.

Investigate and draft responses to complaints, or concerns received, ensuring that national response times are adhered to, in conjunction with the Governance and Quality team.

Support a culture of open reporting and learning from adverse incidents. Ensure that all reported incidents are investigated in a timely manner.


Ensure staff are provided with individual and team feedback on reported incidents and that actions taken and learning points are disseminated widely across the whole team.

Works towards preventing hospital acquired infections. Leads and participates in clinical audits.

Lead on embedding action plans/learning arising from audits, adverse events, SUIs, never events, complaints, legal claims in close liaison with the governance team.

Leads on the development of standard operating procedures and policies and embedding in practice. Provide clinical expertise, advice, and representation to the organisation. Responsibilities for Data and Information Resources Responsible for providing accurate and timely records on patient care and performance. Responsible for leading any changes required to the patient record to improve data/information capture.

Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained.

Learning and Development Responsible for the informal and formal performance management of direct line report staff and for ensuring that they are trained, supported, and developed accordingly.

Responsible for identifying and meeting training needs for area of responsibility. Health & Safety Ensuring there are safe systems of work and take a proactive role in managing risks.
