Overview

If you're passionate about teaching and language education, International House London is searching for enthusiastic General English Teachers to join their diverse team. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging classes as scheduled, fostering a productive learning environment
  • Adhere to and promote IH London's policies and procedures for a safe and secure learning atmosphere
  • Uphold professional standards in teaching, classroom management, and student engagement following the IH Teaching Competencies

Professional Competencies

  • Deep understanding of language systems to explain details clearly
  • Effective class management skills ensuring fair student involvement
  • Awareness of cultural issues and individual student needs respecting Equal Opportunities and PREVENT Policy
  • Keen interest in student progress, providing guidance on linguistic challenges and future learning paths
  • Prepare and deliver lessons tailored to learners' levels, needs, and expectations with diverse teaching methods and materials

Classroom and Beyond

  • Plan lessons encouraging active participation and continuous learning
  • Guide students on improving language skills both inside and outside the classroom
  • Stay updated on online teaching methods and utilize technology effectively

Administration and Professional Development

  • Maintain accurate records, including class registers and lesson sheets
  • Solicit feedback, prepare academic reports, and engage in professional development

Person Specification

  • Essential: First degree and Cambridge CELTA qualification
  • Desirable: Experience in exam, YL, or ESP teaching, and IELTS Examiner status
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Flexibility, teamwork, and autonomy in work

Special Requirements

  • Successful enhanced DBS check completion
  • Provide two satisfactory references
