The community respiratory service has been on an exciting journey of development to advance patient pathways across the speciality which incorporates pulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory outpatient clinics, long Covid and nurse led COPD care.

This full-time post will include clinical, managerial and leadership responsibility and you will have a keen interest in the field of respiratory care.

As a respiratory specialist nurse and team leader you will join our friendly MDT to lead service delivery.

Along with day-to-day management and co-ordination of the service you will have a strong focus on achieving high quality care through quality improvement and continuous development of patient pathways to meet the needs of the local population.

The post holder will also be responsible for meeting performance objectives and work closely with the senior leadership team to support the wider operational and strategic agenda.


You must possess excellent interpersonal skills as well as the drive, vision and initiative to motivate others and meet the demands of the service.

Whilst you will be expected to work independently with a high degree of autonomy, you will also work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team in addition to the wider management team and organisation.


Main duties of the job:

  • To provide operational leadership to the community respiratory service.
  • To provide support and guidance to colleagues to assure that care is delivered effectively using a multidisciplinary model to meet the needs of the patient.
  • Support the senior management team to ensure that governance systems and processes are in place and adhered to by all members of the team.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication pathways to ensure high quality care delivery for complex respiratory patients.
  • Work with colleagues across primary, secondary and community care to ensure that all patient care areas meet agreed standards.
  • Lead service development and quality improvement initiatives.
  • To provide clinical leadership and expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of patients with chronic respiratory conditions, by Specialised and autonomous clinical assessment, treatment, advice and guidance as indicated by clinical / service need or demand

This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as an Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC PIN within the next 3 months.
