An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Band 4 Support Time and Recovery Worker to work in partnership in Primary Care as part of the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS).


The post sits within the Leek and Biddulph Primary Care Network MDT working alongside the Senior Mental Health Practitioner and GP surgery teams.


You will be responsible for providing mental health specialist care to patients within the PCN, whilst working as part of the network's multidisciplinary team.


As a support time & recovery worker, you will assist in the assessment of care needs and the formulation, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for individuals carrying out all relevant forms of care under agreed levels of supervision.

Leek and Biddulph PCN are a group of five GP practices working together to focus on local patient care. The PCN comprises a multi-disciplinary team, covering Leek and Biddulph, responsible for the healthcare of just over 50,000 patients.

Through the ARRS programme the PCN has been successful in delivering innovative services to meet the needs of the local population.

This role builds on and complement the progress of the new model of primary mental health care support.

The post holder will promote engagement with services and assist in identifying strategies to support mental wellbeing and the promotion of self-care and social inclusion.


Working collaboratively with the Mental Health Practitioners and the general practice teams to meet the needs of patients - supporting in the triage of assessments, delivering interventions and education - to manage patients with a variety of mental health conditions.


You will engage with patients to provide support and time limited interventions to meet their health and social needs - with an emphasis on empowerment and recovery.

Working closely with the Mental Health Practitioner to devise plans of care to support recovery and advocate improved choice - using a strengths and asset approach to harness and improve patients own network to improve resilience.

Experience of working in the community in a mental health setting would be beneficial. Primary care experience is not essential; however, a good understanding of how Primary Care works would be beneficial.


The role will be embedded within the PCN however it will be outward facing and will link seamlessly with North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare Trust where you will be supported with supervision, and training opportunities etc.

As a Support Time and Recovery Worker you will assist in the assessment of care needs and the formulation, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for individuals (CYP, Adults, and Older persons) carrying out all relevant forms of care under agreed levels of supervision.


You will assist in engagement with services and assist in identifying strategies to support mental wellbeing and in the promotion of self-care and social inclusion.

You will communicate and work collaboratively with the Mental Health Practitioner and the general practice team to meet the needs of patients.

You will support the delivery of timely access to integrated, high quality, service user-centred services in primary care that enable people with mental health needs, physical health needs and/or social care problems to improve their well-being and functionality, thereby preventing, reducing or delaying the need for more specialist services.


You will work as part of the integrated primary care team under the supervision of the qualified ARRS Mental health practitioners to ensure that all of the needs of service users are addressed thereby promoting wellbeing, independence and choice whilst preventing, reducing or delaying the greater onset of need whilst adhering to policy and procedures.


You will liaise with other professionals and agencies both statutory and non-statutory to provide a link between primary and secondary services from a North Staffs Combined perspective.
