As an Early Help Worker based in a Youth Hub, you'll be responsible for providing a high quality, effective and responsive service encouraging children, young people, and families to get involved in activities, through street-based, centre-based and outreach youth work, group work and more targeted one-to-one support.


This role requires a Level 3 Diploma (or equivalent) in Youth Work, Childcare, Health and Social Care or a relevant field, or evidence of relevant experience of working with vulnerable children, young people, and families in the public, private or voluntary sector.

Experience or willingness to support the delivery of street-based and outreach work in the community and the Duke of Edinburgh Award is essential.


This post, alongside creativity and good communication, requires flexibility, innovative thinking, good organisation skills and requires a positive young person-centred approach.

An induction programme will be provided and on-going training to support your training needs.

The role will involve delivering Youth Work sessions during Twilight and Evenings within the community and centre based, but may include occasional weekend working and working across the district.

The role requires the ability to create rapport and build relationships with children, young people, and families, and

  • Have the ability to gather and interpret information.
  • Have knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks.
  • Be prepared to work in new ways and willing to learn.
  • Whilst working collaboratively to innovate and find new solutions, taking personal and professional responsibility for your actions and performance.
  • Applicants will need to be able to work as part of a team and understand multiagency working, as well as work using their own initiative.
