FTE £35,000 + London Weighting pro rata for 3 days a week

Overall Purpose:


Working as part of the Place2Be training team the post-holder will deliver and develop our pioneering Level 4 Diploma programme which we are working to have accredited by CPCAB and BACP.

This role will have responsibility for the planning, delivery and evaluation of the Level 4 training programme, and ensuring that students receive good quality training and support for the duration of their training.


What will I be responsible for in my new role?

  • To plan, prepare and deliver Place2Be's Level 4 Diploma programme both inperson and online via Zoom
  • To ensure that the training delivered to audiences is of high quality and ensures delegate understanding of content and particularly safeguarding requirements
  • To support the quality assurance of the programmes, review and create content of programmes incorporating aims and outcomes according to the module spec, learner and trainer feedback to ensure the course contents are relevant and up to date.
  • To prepare development briefs (including learner aims and outcomes) and potentially support the development of new courses.
  • To ensure a commitment to EDI is attended to in every forum of the Level 4 Diploma.
  • To lead or support sessions at seminars and conferences, where the work of Place2Be and the training department is to be presented
  • To assess student written submissions and attend standardisation workshops at Level 4 and provide specific written feedback to support the student's further learning.

Diversity and Inclusion

About You

  • Be BACP Registered/ Accredited or UKCP/HPC registered
  • Be qualified as a counsellor/psychotherapist to Level 4 or above
  • Be an Experienced counselling/psychotherapy trainer
  • Have significant evidence of experience (2years+) working therapeutically with Children and young people (preferably both)
  • Consistently displays excellent language skills both oral and written
  • Demonstrate competency in using Microsoft Office and the internet

Place2Be is the leading children's mental health charity providing in-school support and expert professional development to improve the emotional wellbeing of children and young people, families, teachers and school staff.

The charity currently provides an embedded mental health service in 500 UK primary and secondary schools supporting a school community of around 243,000 children and young people.


Our teams provide a range of services in our partner schools to build resilience early in life through counselling, creative work and play and support a child's ability to engage in school life.

Our work, focused on early intervention, is part of the comprehensive CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) system.


Through our professional development programme, we are training around 1,200 Counsellors on Placement each year who build their mental health and counselling skills and experience through practice in our partner schools.

We also provide a range of professional development programmes on mental health and wellbeing for school leaders, teachers and other professionals who work with children and young people, so we can help to build 'mentally healthy' schools and communities where all children can thrive and flourish.
